Moulana Nabi Raza Abidi, the SABA Boards, and SABA community members strongly condemn the oppression of Shia Muslims and execution of Sheikh al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia. Shaheed Sheikh al-Nimr was a spiritual leader of the Shia Muslims in Saudi Arabia and an advocate of peaceful protest and demonstrations for basic civic and human rights for people of Saudi Arabia. He was not given the right to defend himself appropriately as many Human and Civil Rights groups have called his triail for the crime of “disobeying the king” flawed and against local Saudi laws and international laws.

This act of barbarism by the Saudi authorities is equivalent to terrorism against the peaceful Shia population of Saudi Arabia. These acts and persecution against innocent people are condemned in Islam and by all Muslims.

We ask our members to write to their public representatives and UN Secretary General asking them to condemn these actions and press Saudi government to stop persecution of the Shia population and allow them to exercise their basic human and civil rights.

Our prayers are with those affected by these oppressive actions. Most importantly, we pray for the hastening of the appearance of Imam Mahdi (AJ) to bring peace and justice to this world. Please recite a Fatiha for all the shuhadah, specifically for Sheikh al-Nimr. May Allah ST bless his soul and give strength to his family and followers.

The Muslim American communities in the San Francisco Bay Area are calling all people of conscience to join in solidarity and condemn the atrocities committed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the recent execution of Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Protest against Saudi Arabia’s repeated human rights violations will be held on Sunday January 3rd from 2-4 PM at the corner of Stevens Creek Blvd. and Winchester Blvd. in San Jose, California.
